Starting Pitchers
Andrew Abbott
In his last outing Andrew Abbott wasn’t credited for the win for the first time in his big league career. The Reds still won the game as he set a career high with 10 strikeouts in his 6.0 innings. It was the first game he had allowed runs in as the Rockies hit three solo homers in the game.
In limited action with the Reds, Andrew Abbott has been dominant against the few lefties he’s been allowed to face. They’ve gone 3-16 with three singles and no walks. Right-handed hitters have done better, but they are hitting just .164 so far – but they’ve walked plenty and in the most recent outing, they hit for some power.

Tyler Wells
The American League leader with a 0.89 WHIP, Tyler Wells is having himself a strong season for the Orioles. Hitters have a .185 average against him on the year, but they have showed a good amount of power against him.
The splits for Wells show how well he’s pitched against everyone, but right-handed hitters have found a little more success in hitting for power against him. He doesn’t walk much of anyone, and he’s struck out lefties a lot more often than he has righties. Not shown in the splits below is that he’s got a 2.52 ERA at home (4.17 on the road) and allowed far fewer home runs than he has on the road.
