Dodgers Roster News: Daniel Hudson Placed on 60-Day IL, Further Muddying Return Timeline

The Dodgers made a slew of roster moves on Tuesday. Mookie Betts was placed on paternity leave, while utility man Luke Williams was seen in the Dodgers clubhouse. However, the Dodgers needed to make room for Williams to officially be activated on the 40-man roster, and that meant someone needed to be removed — Daniel Hudson ended up being that guy.

Hudson was placed on the 60-day IL, a huge blow to him as he recovers from a torn ACL.

Quite the day of roster moves for the Dodgers.

Here’s the quick update:

Mookie Betts to paternity list (out up to 3 days).

Luke Williams selected to 40-man roster.

Daniel Hudson moved to 60-day IL.

Chris Taylor update coming soon, but he sounds hopeful to not go on IL.

Hudson was initially expected to be ready by spring training this season. Then, he was dealing with ankle tendinitis on top of the ACL recovery, so his timeline was pushed back.

After that, it became clear that Hudson wasn’t going to be ready to go by the beginning of the season, and he opened the season on the injured list. Still, there was hope he wouldn’t be out for long.

That hope is officially out the door, though, as Hudson will be out until at least June, as he continues to recover from his injuries. That’s tough news for the Dodgers, whose bullpen has struggled without him.

The Dodgers bullpen could really use Daniel Hudson, so it’s unfortunate that he’s heading to the 60-day IL. I guess he’s just not progressing as quickly as the team had hoped.

He won’t be back until June at the earliest.

Luke Williams is officially now on the 40-man roster.

The big reinforcements coming to the Dodgers bullpen were supposed to be Hudson and Alex Reyes, but both those guys will be out until June at the earliest. That means the bullpen, as is, is going to have to figure things out.
