Dodgers: Freddie Freeman Is Pumped For Young Guys This Season

The 2022 Dodgers roster was filled with All-Stars and proven veterans who have been there and done that in the majors. LA lost some of their established guys to other teams this offseason and will look quite different in 2023.

Even though LA still has some veteran guys, they’ll also have a good mix of young guys who will be contributing in a big way this season.

Miguel Vargas, James Outman, and Ryan Pepiot are a few prospects that will get some significant playing time with the Dodgers parent club.

These guys are young and unproven, but Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman is okay with that. Freeman is the exact opposite of that, as he told the fans at Fan Fest at Dodger Stadium that he is pumped for the young guys.

“I mean I get it, you lose Justin Turner, you lose Cody Bellinger, you lose Trea Turner. It’s hard it’s hard as a fan to watch people that you’ve watched for so long go off and I get it. But we were all those young players at one point that you were cheering and rooting for us at one point but now we’re going to have a couple new guys that are going to make massive impacts on this team not only in this year, but many many, many years. And that’s what you need. Like you could, you have to have young players to maintain in your organization. You can’t always just go out there and spend all the money in the world. You can, but you still need young guys and the list just came out we have seven guys in the Top 100. You need those guys, you need them you know? And we got a lot of them that are going to make an impact on our team this year.”

The present and the future are incredibly bright for the Boys in Blue. They have a handful of All-Star/superstar-level players and have seven top 100 prospects in their farm system.

Unfortunately, LA could not retain some of their veteran guys, but some fresh, new faces may be what Andrew Freidman and company wanted and needed for the team.

As we inch closer to Spring Training and Opening Day, I’m excited to see the young guys play with an expanded role and see if they can play at the big league level.
