Dodgers Celebrity Fan Stirs Padres Pot with MLB Controversy

The Dodgers have a lot of celebrity fans, and actor Rob Lowe is literally one of the biggest names among them. A member of the famed “Brat Pack” of the 1980s, Lowe grew up and went on to star in movies and television shows, including The West Wing and Parks & Recreation.

Lowe has made waves a few times over the years by sporting t-shirts and hats mocking the Houston Astros and their cheating ways.

Most recently, Lowe went out of his way to poke fun at the Padres. In the late 1980s, Lowe co-starred in two of the greatest comedies of all time, Tommy Boy and Wayne’s World. It was the latter that Lowe referenced in a tweet on Monday.

@MLB now says there is still a mathematical chance the @Padres could win the division. As we said in Wayne’s World, “and monkeys might fly out of my butt.” @Dodgers

Now, Lowe didn’t get all the details right. The Dodgers’ magic number to eliminate the Padres was still 2 at the time of the tweet; it was actually the Brewers who weren’t quite mathematically eliminated like we thought they had been on Sunday night, so it’s actually Milwaukee that has the same chance of passing the Dodgers as soaring rectal primates.

But let’s be real, the Padres’ chances in the NL West are about the same as Wayne and Garth’s chances of landing a date with Claudia Schiffer. Going into Monday night, San Diego is 20 games behind the Dodgers with just over three weeks to play. They could be eliminated as soon as Tuesday, and they’re fighting to hold onto a Wild Card spot.

So we’ll forgive Rob Lowe for not getting all the details right, because they were right in spirit. The NL West title will be ours. Oh yes, it will be ours.
