Dodgers News: Los Angeles Re-Signs Catcher Tony Wolters

The Dodgers made the decision to cut Tony Wolters loose this month. The veteran catcher was brought up to make up for the loss of Austin Barnes, who went on the family emergency list and had to be away from the team. Wolters got a few at-bats and didn’t do anything with them.

As a result, the Dodgers designated him for assignment and cut him loose when Barnes came back. That made him a free agent and he could have signed with another team. But it sounds like he will be returning to the organization again.

Wolters signed a minor league deal to return to the Dodgers and is back with Triple-A Oklahoma City. He accumulated 193 plate appearances in OKC and put together a mediocre .216/.311/.269 slash line.

Other Dodgers News

Freddie Freeman spoke this week about his favorite Dodgers player, and many fans will agree with him. This week, the first baseman made his pick while visiting students at Solano Avenue Elementary School. And it’s incredibly wholesome.

The Dodgers have been without Clayton Kershaw for a few weeks now. And while his status has very much been up in the air, his return has come into focus this week. And he could be one of the September roster expansion guys.

Reyes Moronta is no longer a member of the Dodgers. After being designated for assignment this week to make room for healthy guys, Moronta was claimed by another National League West team.
