Dodgers News: Dustin May Reacts to His Dominant 2022 MLB Debut

On Saturday night, Dodgers fans got to enjoy a moment they’ve been waiting for the better part of 15 months, the return of Dustin May. It’s been a long road back to the bigs for May since undergoing Tommy John surgery in May of 2021, but the wait, was certainly worth it.

Against a struggling Marlins team at Dodger Stadium, May started the game in style by striking out the side in the first inning. After the third strikeout, D-May let out a roar that could echo into October.

The flame-throwing righty threw five scoreless frames, collected nine strikeouts, and yielding just two walks.

After the game, May labeled the game as a “huge confidence boost” (quotes via The LA Times’ Mike DiGiovanna).

“It’s super exciting to know that I’m back and that I can go get guys out when I need to and that I can get out of a jam when I put myself into one. That was a huge confidence boost. … I’m just glad to get the first one out of the way and to know I came out of it healthy and strong, and now I can get ready for the next one.”

When asked about his performance against the Marlins, May had the jokes (quotes via The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya).

“I just decided to throw strikes instead of balls.”

D-May is back and that’s great news for the Dodgers, and bad news for everyone else.
