It was the year of the Red Cross in college baseball, beginning in the preseason with injuries to Henry Williams (Duke), Peyton Pallette (Arkansas) and Will Frisch (Oregon State). The season-ending trauma then moved onto Adam Maier (Oregon), Dylan Ross (Georgia) and Landon Sims (Mississippi State) in Week Three before taking more victims later in the spring with Cole Stupp (Kentucky) and Sam Highfill (NC State).
When the damage ended a huge slice had been taken from the quality and depth in this year’s college pitching pie. And this was just with the righthanded pitching.
