After a blowout win last night, the Cincinnati Reds will look to guarantee at least a series split with a win tonight. They’ll send Hunter Greene to the mound. The Miami Marlins will turn to Pablo Lopez to try and even things up at Great American Ball Park. First pitch is set for 6:40pm ET.
Here are the lineups for tonight’s contest:
It’s been an inconsistent rookie season for Hunter Greene. When he’s been on, he’s been unhittable. But at times this season he’s been quite hittable and he leads the league in home runs allowed.
Greene has pitched much better against lefties this season than righties. Left-handed hitters are hitting for a lot of power against him, and they draw walks at a better than average rate, but Greene has held them to a .778 OPS. Right-handed hitters, though, are doing a lot better. Most of the difference comes in the power department as they are slugging .528 against him. Righties walk less, but also strike out less, while hitting for a higher average.
A pitcher you may not have heard much about, Pablo Lopez has a 3.21 ERA over the last three seasons in 50 starts. He’s been very good and he’s getting it done again this year. His splits aren’t that different overall with right-handed hitters having a 13 point advantage when compared to lefties. Lefties do hit for a little more power, while righties get a few more hits overall.
